St. Matthias School
Work has been done on the school up to the first floor ceiling level. Work will continue as funds are available. Future plans include the school, a new church and a building to provide shelter to mission teams visiting Thomonde. The new school will provide a better environment for the current students as well as allow for more children to enroll and receive an education. Funding from the Partnership Program also provides tuition money for students, salaries for teachers, educational supplies for the school and administrative costs for running the school. As of 1/20/2010, we have received news that the area around Thomonde has escaped damage.
Haiti Disaster Relief
Current needs consist of monetary donations. St. Thomas, as part of the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, will collect your donations made out to the Diocese and forward them to the Diocesan office where they will be combined with other parish's donations and sent to Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD). ERD has a long time presence in Haiti and thus can best use the funds for both immediate and long-term needs.
